Devised and delivered by the Irish Architecture Foundation, this new initiative provides students with first-hand experience of the design process under the guidance of design professionals. Michael Carroll of Horgan Carroll Architects was selected by the IAF to work with the students of Christ the King Secondary School, Cork in the delivery of this programme.
Well done to Niamh Hurley, who prepared this excellent BLOG www.mydesignjournal.ie/christ-king-girls-school-cork
The IAF have also launched a new school resource called My Architecture Design Journal, which engages young people in architecture through design projects based on their school, recorded in a bespoke student “Design Journal”. Suitable for teacher-led or architect-led projects, My Architecture Design Journal is supported by a teacher’s handbook and online resources, including a blog where participants of the National Architects in Schools Initiative post updates on their projects. For more information see: www.mydesignjournal.ie.
The Initiative is funded by The Arts Council, Government Policy on Architecture 2009-2015 and The Department of Education and Skills.
